Fighting Cancer With The Help Of Green Tea

Options

I wonder if this is why I now crave matcha green tea so much?  I was previously a decaf latte drinker, but I get queasy just thinking about coffee these days...

Just FYI, if you're not a green tea drinker and want to try it, I highly suggest matcha green tea.  It's totally different from the wimpy stuff you get in tea bags.  I get mine on eBay.     Deanna

Sounds good.  I never drank coffee, ever but I drank de-caf black tea and now I have switched to green tea.  I put a little almond milk in it and I really like it.  It may sound weird...

Me, too, ML  -- almond milk, and honey, which I know I should try to curtail, since sugar feeds cancer...

Have you seen this video?  It what got me intrigued with matcha.  I use almond milk but add a tablespoon or two of Half & Half because it's so delicious and I actually need to gain some weight back.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qg0Yuj6INQ

COOL video, dlb823! I have some in my pantry..I will try to make this next time. I love Teavana, but it is SO expensive. Do you think we are getting chlorophyll with that green?

Remember to not use boiling water.

I can't find the link or remember where I read it but I think i read at some point green tea was one of the most powerful anti-cancer agents.

very interesting...heard Dr. Oz talk about the benefits of green tea reducing cancer risk.

dlb823....how long have you been making matcha tea....and do you go thru the steps on the video?  Seems very specific...like water temp of 175.

I do like the ceremonial aspect of making the tea.

Think I'll visit the Teavana store this weekend.

Thanks for the post.  I've been trying to incorporate green tea into my regime but I keep slipping back into the coffee rountine.  Old habits are hard to break.

Nash, I've been drinking matcha green tea for at least a year, maybe more.  And no, I do not go thru the precise steps in the video, which I feel are more ceremonial, so can add a relaxing element to your day.  I do a slightly abbreviated version using almond milk, and I suspect the tea probably ends up tasting the same.  I don't have a bamboo wisk, but using one would probably help the tea dissolve a bit better than using a spoon to stir, as I do.

I think the point of keeping the water below boiling is that it would make quite a green mess if it boils and may clump some of the tea, rather than dissolve it.

geewhiz, I don't recall the price of Teavana's matcha, but I buy mine on eBay.  I've bought from the same eBay seller for quite awhile now, and have also sent it to family and friends because I think the quality and price are so superior to what I can find elsewhere.  They also have a website, but not sure if the price is the same as eBay.  PM me if you want the info.      Deanna
