Lumpectomy question

I've been reading the lumpectomy thread and it seems like my masses are a lot bigger than most have had removed. I have a about 4.5 cm total to be removed (Idc and dcis) I'm a c cup. Does that seem strange?  My bs is recommending it but says I will be a lot smaller on my left side.

Any thoughts?

I had a 4 cm tumor. I am smaller on my left side, but it is not noticeable at all when I'm wearing a bra....and since I wouldn't be going around in public braless anyway, and probably won't be ever on a nude beach, I am okay with that. Just a word of caution, don't freak out at the initial results. When I first had surgery, I was shocked by how it looked, but give it some time (like up to a year) because the fat shifts around and fills in the gaps pretty well. My example is a shelf cup bathing suit; I had surgery in early March & could not wear the suit that summer because the size difference was really noticeable. I loved that suit though, so kept it, and by the next summer I could wear it again. You can get a partial breast prosthesis if you feel like you need it to fill out your bra cup (you can have your doctor write a prescription and insurance will pay for it). I did use one for awhile after surgery, but eventually didn't need it any more. Best of luck!
