Thoughts about Mayo Clinic

I am now 5 years out from my Stage 3 diagnosis.

    Bilateral Mastectomy, chemo, radiation, etc.

I still take an Aromitase Inhibitor & now Prolia twice a year.

My Oncologist told me at my last appt. that this fall I could decide if I want to discontinue the AI.

I was 2 years on Tamoxifen, and it will be 3 in December that I've been on Exemestane.

I was a bit troubled when he said that & reminded him that I THOUGHT he originally told me that I would be on the AI med for at least 5 years, and maybe 7.

He looked at his notes & said, "oh yeah, you were Stage 3."  He proceeded to tell me that I can stop the meds, or I can continue.  I love my Onc., but truthfully, I want an Oncologist who is as aggressive with remission as with treatment.  Ya know?

This isn't to say that I want to stay on the meds, because I don't.  But I will want to see some concrete answers about going off.  I want info about clinical trials (if there is anything for me).  I'm trying to do all that I can do to stay well .... exercise, eat right, less stress.

I have had complications (pulmonary embolism, vascular issues, & I take an anti-viral) which causes me to take my health with the utmost of seriousness.  I am no longer working.  A couple of women in an exercise group that I attend recommended that I call Mayo Clinic & go there for my 5 year check up.  I will still see my regular Onc., but maybe Mayo is a good idea.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I think if I had my choice of places for breast cancer I'd go to Memorial Sloan Kettering.
