Recurrence after double mastectomy???

four years ago I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in my right breast. I found out I was BRCA1 positive, so I had a double mastectomy, reconstruction, and 16 rounds of chemotherapy. Since then, I've had another baby and was doing great healthwise.

Yesterday I went to my six month check up and my oncologist found a lump in my other breast, the left one this time. At first, my oncologist said it was almost impossible for the lump to be cancer. She was sure it was fat necrosis, which I had developed previously and my other breast. I quickly got an appointment to have an ultrasound done. After the ultrasound, the tech told me that the radiologist wanted a mammogram. After the mammogram, the radiologist came in and said we needed a biopsy because the lump looked suspicious.

Later yesterday evening, I talked to my doctor and asked her to be straight up with me about what the lump looked like. She said they really weren't sure, part of it was fat necrosis, part of it was in oil cyst, but part of it was vascular and solid. I asked her if I should prepare myself for a recurrence, and she said yes.

Does anyone have any insight on something like this happening?

I have no personal experience or medical advice. Just wanted to tell you that until it is actually in the report that it is definitely cancer, think positive. If it is a cancer, it will not be a recurrence but a new primary as it is in the opposite breast of the last BC lesion, I hope they are wrong though and it is just suspicious looking, not actually BC. That has definitely happened before. The only definitive proof is the pathology report! HUGS!
