I am scheduled to have a double mastectomy with axillary dissection at Sloan with Dr Heerdt next week.  Can anybody tell me if they have used Dr. disa?  My appt with him was rushed and I wasn't that impressed.  But I have no choice at this point.

I am feeling very depressed and am finding it hard to make even the most basic decisions.  I must admit it was a real downer to see the "after" photos of reconstruction, e.g., implants with a fat horizontal scar running across the width of the breast.  I thought the scar would be more discreet.  Does anybody know if having extenders put in and delaying the reconstruction to consider other options has any negative consequences?  I did prefer the photos of flaps but am worried about complications.

Also, is it standard to have 4 drains after surgery?

I would appreciate any advice.  Thanks.

4 drains are pretty standard, can you inquire about IMF incisions, or purse string type?
