edited September 2014 in High Risk for Breast Cancer

I had my surgery Sept 9 have been home for week and half so far, having good days and not so good days.  The surgery itself wasnt anywhere as difficult as I thought or had myself worked up for. The first couple days were difficult lots of pain but managed with pain meds. The drains were more of a pain then anything have had them removed and have also gotten an infection in surgery site :(  its just the little things you take for granted that are difficult the smallest thing from tryn to open a pill bottle to trying to open a door or get out of bed. sure am glad I have very strong leg muscles. My ps removed all bandages and steri strips at my appt on friday not a pretty sight at all. I do have a fair amount of redness swelling and bruising apparently the breast surgeon opted to remove lymph nodes she was concerned about. Her office called Fri said they want to see me Tues to go over pathology report very anxious about this.

The first thing that strikes me with your post is that you are so brave and have such a positive attitude. I hope you are healing quicker now the bandages are off:)

I've got my fingers crossed that you will have a good pathology report. Hang in there!

I agree with songbird68. Sounds like your doing right what you should be. You have a good attitutude about the whole thing. Pathology will be what it is. Try not to stress over it. Sometimes you even get surprised and it ends up better than they thought. It's so true that this surgery makes you realize that we take for granted the most simple movements. But it all comes back fairly quickly so hang in there! One day at a time and you'll be back to normal in no time!

You sound like you are in a good place mentally and physically.  I had a BMX with immediate implants on 8/27 and was back to work on 9/15.  The surgery and recovery isn't wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either.

Tuesday will be here soon enough.  Final pathology may be better than you anticipate.

    Good luck!

Thank you ladies for your kind words and words of encouragement I am so glad I found this site to read other posts or relate to what others have endured. I do have the occasional melt down ( more so because I am a single middle aged women who now has the challenges of  trying to being positive about my body the way it looks now) but with that being said I have 3 grown children and 2 beautiful grand children that remind me each day how precious life is. My mom was diagnosed at my age with BC and lost her battle 4 years later:( I plan to be here to watch my grand children grow.
