Synchronous Bilateral Breast Cancer

I was diagnosed in June 2014 with triple negative in right breast, started chemo in early July and then found out in late August I developed ER+ in left breast. My treatment plan is going to stay the same except that I will be having a bilateral mastectomy. I am finding this is pretty rare, is there anyone else who is going or has gone through this? I did have repeat scans and all came back negative, so it does not look like it has spread anywhere else.

Hi, Just saw your post. I too had cancer in each breast. I found the left breast lump. The MRI found the one in the right breast. I had a bilateral mastectomy in April, 2014 with immediate reconstruction. No chemo and no radiation. Now I'm back on the boards because I have a local recurrence of cancer in my left breast. Looks like I'm starting chemo soon and then surgery/radiation. Not fun!
