I was recently dx in August with IDC bc went for my scheduled MRI and they found another lump in the same breast.I had a mrigguided biopsy yesterday and I got the results today and it came back as DCIS...has this happened to anyone?  Will this effect my treatment..the DR. said that they don't test for stage or grade when a second lump is found as im already om the road for treatment it just may change the way they want to treat me...I feel like everytime I get touched they find something new going on.....I know I have a long road ahead of me im just so tired already and I haven't even gotten my surgery date yet.....guess its better theu find everything now then later...

I also had IDC and some DCIS.  I think it can be pretty common to have both.  I felt the same way at the beginning....everytime I found out more information the picture changed. It takes a while to really know what is going on.  Hang in there!

I had a 7mm DCIS tumor also. I don't think it's that uncommon. Good luck!

I had both. Luckily, the stage was based on the size of the invasive, not the non invasive because the non was bigger than two invasive ones were.  Also, the non did not show up on mammogram, they found it when I had MRI. I had orig. planned to have a lumpectomy and after MRI, was changed to mastectomy so it was good that I had the MRI because my doctor said they would never been able to get clear margins in the lumpectomy and I would have had to go right back in for surgery.

DCIS just means that there were cancer cells that had not invaded other tissue yet, its very common with bc already and is highly unlikely to change your treatment plan unless its a huge area that needs to be removed.
