Lump or scar tissue?

grr I had my whole post typed out and my iPad erased it sheesh.  Anyway I had a lumpectomy 2 1/2 months ago.  I really didn't touch the area until recently. I had three lymph nodes removed at the time.  I only have one incision as the tumor was very close to the nodes.  I am currently undergoing chemo.  I feel a lump under the incision and another one close to the incision. The one under the incision has been there from the beginning. I don't know about this second one. I think this is where the nodes were taken out but of course I am concerned.  What kind of scarring if any do you guys have where the lymph nodes were removed.  I am hoping this is what I am feeling but will ask onco next week when I go in.  Why or why can't I just be lump free ugh

Thanks

Nancy

Hi Nancy, I don't know if this is the same thing, but I had a couple of lumps that I found right after my Mx. My surgeon removed the first one which turned out to be an undissolved stitch and the other was a hematoma which he drained, along with a Seroma.

I am nearly 2 years out from that surgery and just recently found another lump just under my Mx incision. I had it looked at under U/S and had another Core biopsy. It turned out to be a cyst and scar tissue.

In think it is very common to have these kinds of things arise. I know it doesn't make it any easier when you discover something, but I think the vast majority are just benign things.

I wish you all the best with it.

I'm only one month out of surgery, but maybe this can be helpful anyway.      I had breast conserving surgery (quadrantectomy) plaus two sentinel lymph nodes removed.   Two different incisions were made in my case.      In the breast, I have a huge hard bump surrounding  entire incision area.     In lymph node area, I started out with very large bump, almost the size of a small egg, under arm.     It as now reduced in size, but is still quite large, maybe 2 cm.        In my case, I think it's just the remaining lymph nodes reacting to the surgical intervention.      Doctors did not make anything of it at my post surgical checks.       I hope your lump is just something like that too!!!    (I'l admit that until I saw the underarm one reducing, it concerned me, even though I guessed it was most very likely just reaction to surgery.)

thank you ladies.  I did ask my onco about the lump under the incision and she said that there could be fluid and it will reabsorb.  I think it is because that one does feel a little smaller.  This other one though I just noticed but wasn't feeling around before as I was kind of favoring the surgical site.  I do think I react with lumps from anything surgical as I even have a small tiny lump from my biopsy.  Blah
