High blood pressure and tamoxafin?

Options

so ever since my diagnosis last October  my always normal bp of 118/60 is now consistently around 130-33/85?!!!   I'm still walking 6 times a week. Eat healthy (I really do).  But my weight has creeped up to 128. (I was normally 124- I'm 5-5")   My weight gain I figured is from tamoxafin.  Now I'm wondering if my recent high blood pressure is from tamoxafin as well?   PS- my dad had a heart attack at 62!!!

I've had the exact same thing, but it started before the Tamoxifen (first noticed it during radiation because they were checking once a week).   I think it's just white coat syndrome from PTSD as I went to give blood a couple months ago and my BP was 117/70 instead of the 132/82 it's been lately at various medical offices.    My PCP ran an EKG to try and see (as that is less likely to be affected by anxiety) but even that came back borderline abnormal (which could still reflect stress) so she sent me to a cardiologist who did an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) and a stress test and pronounced me perfectly fine.

I may get a BP monitor for at home so I can see if the numbers are any different here, but for now at least, as long as it doesn't get any worse, I'm not going to worry about it.

I was on blood pressure meds for 11 yrs prior to BC and Tamo. It was under control with a low dose of beta blocker. Under Tamo, my BP went out of control. I went to double my dosage, then my dr had to put me on a 2nd BP med. I ended up with BP all over the place at different times of the day and ended up getting an electronic BP machine and had to regulate my BP med depending on the reading. Your pressure is borderline right now and may not be enough for doctors to put you on meds, but check with your doctor. After I stopped taking Tamo after 4 years, my BP has gone back to normal with a low dose of med. My oncologist told me that my blood pressure was not caused directly by Tamo, but the stress that Tamo was putting on my body. She was really great at admitting to the side effects.

I was detected with an unruptured brain aneurysm 3 years ago and had it surgically coiled and stented. I do wonder if the out of control BP could have caused it, but who knows. The annie was detected during a MRA that was done for a different reason. And, in the days leading to my brain surgery, my BP went down so much that I thought they were going to have to cancel the surgery. In the end I did have it - my PCP did not take me off the beta blocker because she said it helps protect your heart. My heart is strong as an ox (according to tests 2 yrs agoj).

    Good luck, Sherri
