Do you have to loose weight?

Options

Orthopaedic surgeon is planning a hip replacement as pain is life debilitating. Despite this, the X-rays show little actual damage. I've read a lot about it and accept this is quite common but obviously worry that there's actually mets there. My newly qualified Doctor daughter insists I would be loosing weight if it were mets.

So my question to those unfortunate to be stage four is, did you loose weight before diagnosis?

Thanks.

No, I didn't lose weight and I had an 11 cm tumor on my liver.  While some people do, I rarely see stage 4 people talk about weight loss as a symptom .

Have you had a bone scan to rule out mets?

    Hi Laurie,

I had one about 18 months ago but at my annual check with the breast surgeon I asked for another before I go "under the knife".  That, together with increasing back pain, seemed reasonable to him but I haven't heard of an appointment yet.

Thank you for replying and I hope that treatment continues to produce good results.
