My surgeon just called, I have IDC Stage IIA.  I will know more when I go in for my next appointment.

I still need to get the genetic testing and a PET Scan done next week.

I am 44 years old with six children ages 12-24.  I also have a two month old grandson who I adore!!!  I also work full time and lead a very active lifestyle.

I feel so much better just knowing what we are dealing with.  I will feel even better when we get a game plan together.

The last few weeks have been worry filled!  Thanks for all the support in this group it has been a relief to talk to others going through the same thing.

    Dear Rita,

Isn't it strange that once we're told we have cancer, it's better than not knowing but worrying about it.  I felt that way in 1999, although I'll admit that I also had periods of intense anger and grief too.  By 2011, I wasn't the least bit surprised to be diagnosed with a second primary.  I guess you can only be truly shocked once.

    Rita22:

I'm so sorry you have a reason to keep hanging out here, but we welcome you anyway. So many answers and so much support can be found on this forum. Now you have the facts, and aren't spinning in a world of (as many) questions. I was 46 at dx, and a single Mom who owned and ran a business.  It sounds as if you, just like me, are thinking mostly of your family's future instead of your own. There is never a "right time" to have cancer, but know that, for the majority of women, this disease has become highly treatable. So we wish you all the best during your treatment.  Keep coming back here for research and to "talk" to those who really understand you on your good days and your bad.  Best to you and your family.
