Concerns about radiation.

Options

Hello everyone! I have been reading on this site since I was diagnosed in February, and I finally decided to create an account. I will have my 8th Taxol treatment this coming Friday, and that leaves only 4 left! Yay! I cannot wait to be finished! Chemo has been kind of rough for me.. in general, but I am doing okay and look forward to being done with it and feeling healthy again. My onc. wants me to get radiation after chemo, but I am totally not sure if I want to do that. I have concerns about it, and will be talking to the RO this friday. I have lymphedema in my left arm, and i am afraid that radiation will make it worse. I had a mastectomy in March, and the surgical site is still not healed completely, and i have had a few infections there. I have smoked for about 30 years, and i have stopped smoking several times throughout treatment, but then i go back to it- back and forth.. i am going to try to quit again this week. I hate smoking so much, I hate that I am addicted to it, i hate that i ever started (I was 11 at the time). Anyway, because I have been a smoker for so long, I am concerned about getting a secondary lung cancer from radiation.

I want to thank you all for listening. With warmest hugs to you all.
