Weight Gain & Menopausal Symptoms After Mastectomy

Has anyone else experienced uncontrollable weight gain and worsening menopausal symptoms since your mastectomies? I've just had bilateral mastectomies in February and have become acutely aware of weight gain in my upper abdominal area. I have never gained weight there before, so I am now extremely uncomfortable. I can't even eat a small meal without feeling like I'm going to explode.

Since February, I've put on 17 lbs., and I am miserable. I've never been thin, but I have been healthy. I have been mostly vegan for years, gluten-free, and organic/non-GMO except for the few times I feel my body needs animal protein. In other words, I really don't feel it's my diet.

Post-menopausal for three years, menopausal symptoms were non-existent until after the surgery when I began having hot flashes and an inability to stay asleep. Could the mastectomy have kicked off a series of hormonal imbalances? It sure seems that way...

And by the way, ladies, thank you so much for the questions you ask and the answers you give. It's helped me so much through my journey.

I am gaining weight like crazy since double mastecomy as well. I lost a ton in chemo and since surgery I’ve gained 20 pounds. I’m always thin this is not like me
