Hi all. I was diagnosed last week with DCIS in my right breast. I found it myself - 10 months since my last mammogram. I have a family history of breast cancer and have decided to have a double mastectomy. I don't mind telling you all, I am terrified, but, am grateful I found it early.

I have read many of the posts here and am so glad I found this forum. There are so many amazing and strong women going through this. I hope and pray that we all get through this and are able to provide support and comfort for those that will follow us.

I plan to have reconstructive surgery using my own tissue, either DIEP or TRAM. I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone that has either procedure.

    Welcome
to Breastcancer.org. We're sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us!

Besides sharing your experiences and learning from other members here at the boards, you may also want to take a look at the Breast Cancer 101section from the main site, which is designed to help you sort through all of the information on our site to find what is more relevant to you right now.

Also reliable information on DCIS—Ductal Carcinoma In Situ where
you'll learn about symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, etc.

Possibly of interest too is the Breast Reconstruction Category of Topics.

    We hope
    this helps!
