Diagnosed 7/25 with IDC, ER+PR+ on left and IDC right HER2+ on right. Breast surgeon strongly recommends lumpectomies after genetic testing and breast MRI. Tumors are each 1 centimeter. Surgery 9/18 and will have chemo and rads plus Herceptin. Can't figure out why at age 54 this happened. BRCA 1+2 negative. Scared about everything, including Herceptin's effectiveness.

How were your tumors found? Usually MRI reveals more than ultrasound and a mammogram to help people decide if they need to do lumpectomy or mastectomy. In my case, there were more than one tumor found in my breast. They did not show up in the mammogram. This helped me decide to do mastectomy. Do you have dense breasts? It is harder to find tumors in dense breasts which will make it harder to monitor after the lumpectomy.
