Hi - so happy to have this avenue to discuss.

My story - my diagnosis is in my signature - that was two years ago. I had a bone scan following diagnosis and preop mastectomy and it was clear. In May 2013 I had another bone scan  and MRI due to pain I was having in my spine and I was told there was degeneration in a couple of areas but no sign of mets. 

Fast forward to June 18, 2014 - I was walking off a step and rolled my ankle inwards and then out wards. The x-rays showed an avulsion fracture on the inside of the ankle and they said I had torn ligaments on the outside. I was sent for physiotherapy and told to wear a splint. 

It has been 10 weeks since injury and every time I have tried to progress in physio exercises or not wearing the splint it seems to get worse, pain now more diffuse in foot, ankle and tib/fib areas. 

I was sent for x-ray, ultrasound and bone scan this week. At the ultrasound they consulted the radiologist who came in and they looked very carefully at the x-ray again and then did a few more images. They asked about my cancer history at the time. 

At the bone scan, I got the same tech I have had for the previous two bone scans and for all my MUGA's as I went through chemo/Herceptin. She took some pictures of my feet right at the beginning after injecting the tracer and then I returned two hours later for the full body bone scan. After that part she took additional images of both hips and also called up the old bone scans and any other x-rays, MRI. The radiologist and her spoke several times by phone and they then did SPECT images of both feet in several positions. The radiologist kept calling and asking for different views. Then I was asked to go to waiting room and they discussed. She called me back for one more set of pictures and following that I was OK'd to leave. 

This was a very different experience from my other bone scans and I am now left wondering until I get the results. I did look at the scans of the feet as they were doing them and the left foot/ankle/lower leg was definitely lit up quite diffusely. 

Has anyone had experience of bone mets to the ankle/foot - I am aware that it is rare (1%) but this has me wondering if my injury was because of mets.
