Does anyone know of a good IBC doctor in Macon, GA? I just had a mammogram and sonogram. The radiologist said I did not look like I have breast cancer. Just a rash, thickening of skin and slightly dense breasts. He said I could get a punch biopsy if I wanted further confirmation. I would like to find someone knowledgable about IBC since everything I read about IBC symptoms indicate rash and thickening of skin can be IBC.

Welcome to BCO but please be careful what you read on thge Internet as there is a lot of innacurate info out there. The radiologists are usually pretty good and if they have any doubt say nothing but refer you to a doctor to discuss the scans.

Is there a breast care ceter that you can contact (talk to the radiologist where you had your scans).

We wish you all the best in finding a specialist for a qualified opinion..

thank you. I understand about the internet. I think I will just get my dermatologist do a punch biopsy. If he finds cancer than I will go from there.

There are MANY possibilities for skin issues that have nothing ro do with IBC.  An appt with your dermatologist is a good idea.

Remember that IBC is rare - between 1% - 5% of all DXd types of BC.  If all who come here because they developed a rash and decided they were IBC were correct - it would be the most common type which it isn't.  It is of course possible but unlikely.

IBC does often present with redness but doesn't in all cases.  I never developed any redness.

Good luck with your next appt.
