I have a 14 year old saline implant from reconstruction in 2000.  I still have to wear a prosthetic because it's way smaller than my natural breast.  That's not the issue.  It's uncomfortable, rock hard and ALWAYS has been.  I've had 4 abdominal surgeries and too nervous to have a DIEP Flap.  My PS said he prefers the: mentor silicon gel high profile implants.  Has anyone had these placed and if so, how do you like them?  Thank You.

Thank you for posting.  Is your implant fairly comfortable, my implant is not.  It is so hard, like a plastic bowl under my skin.  Thanks

My implants are very comfortable and soft.  Sounds like you might have some capsular contracture going on.  Has your PS discussed this and/or possibly talked about scoring some of the internal scarring at time of exchange?  I also had fat grafting done, and this has really helped things stay soft.

Wow, You nailed it.  I have a grade 3 capsular contracture.  I have never heard of scoring before, but I'll bring that up at my next appt.   My PS just wants to do a DIEP.  But I've had 4  abdominal/pelvic  surgeries and am too leary of it.  I am so happy for you and to hear that these impants are comfortable.  Again Thank you for sharing.

You are welcome!  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Not sure if "scoring" is what it officially is called.  But the PS criss crosses the scar tissue to break it up, kind of like cutting a checker board pattern into it so it doesn't pull.  Does that make sense?  Ask about the fat grafting as well - some studies have shown less capsular contracture when this is done.  When is your surgery?

Mine are soft and comfortable, too.  I still feel them all the time, but I guess that is supposed to diminish over time.  It's not uncomfortable, just "there".
