Did you stop radiation treatment early?

I found a doctor willing to treat me with the UK/Canandian standards (based upon START and Ontario studies) but my insurance would not cover the treatment with her.  My treatment was delayed for weeks while I searched for a doctor who would respect my wishes.  Nevertheless, I ended up with a doctor who insists upon the US conventional standard of 50 Gy with 10 Gy boost.  I even had the ASTRO guidelines with me and tried to discuss the fact that I only want about 42 Gy but she reacted as onc doctors often do - simply not up for discussion.  I was very late starting rads, so I decided it was best to get treatment started and that I would just treat until I reach my max and then stop early.

However, I want to have a relationship with the doctor, feel good about going in for a follow up etc.  And I would really like the boost, which means I need to tell the doctor what I am planning to do and seek her cooperation in moving up the boost days etc.  Any suggestions on how to approach the subject?  I'd hate for her to think I started treatment on false pretenses, but ever since I read the START studiy I have known I was not going to allow 60 gy.

If I lived in Canada or the UK this would have been standard "unquestionable" treatment.
