I finished radiation treatment Dec. 2013, and recently saw my plastic surgeon because of tightness and discomfort in my radiated breast. I have silicone implants and I suspected it was capsule contracture. Surgeon recommends 6 weeks of daily hyperbaric oxygen treatment to promote healing.  I thought I was done healing, I do not have any skin issues, but symptoms started up a few months ago. and has now affected my range of motion in arm. The HBO department told me 70% of their clients are patients who went thru radiation therapy for various cancers. Just wondering if any of you have had this type of therapy.

Hi I went through HBO but for a different reason. If your question is about the procedure it's the easiest thing that I've had to do compared to other cancer related procedures. When they first turn on the machine you are just pretty much sitting down with your regular clothing, then after a set period of time when it reaches a certain depth, they put the oxygen mask on which is kind like an old fashion scuba divers helmet, then as the depth decreases they take off the helmet until you are completely decompressed and let out. The entire thing took about an hour from start to finish.  I would check with your insurance about paying for this procedure. Mine refused to pay. Hope you can heal from all this.
