Hi All,

I had a bilateral mastectomy in March 2012 and after being in so much pain for the next 10 months, I learned that I had breast contracture. Because of this, I had another surgery where they scored the tissue to relieve the pain from the contracture.  After that procedure, things began to feel a little better and I eventually had nipple reconstruction. Now I am having some hardness all around, where the areola would have been. It's getting harder and harder, and the pain is worsening. Has anyone else had this happen?  Thank you!

No I had hardness but it would always get better with time. Make an appointment to have it checked.

I had that with my expanders and it's not there after the exchange so I assumed it was a little adhesion (scar tissue) that formed from the breast tissue on to the expander. That's what it felt like. I don't have it now though and he and I never really discussed it.I actually had it with both. Sounds like you may have scar tissue thereas well.

I'm so happy I came across this, I have a question for you...I am 2 mos post op and in the middle of the night last night I woke up in terrible pain starting from the sternum radiating out across the breast and under my ribs.  My dr is in surgery today but I have an apt on Thursday.  Is this how it started? I am icing and taking ibuprofen, but wow did it start like that? So suddenly? Feels like a brick and I have not had any problems!!! (until today) So sorry you had to go through that for so long!!

I sorry to hear about your pain. I developed capsular contracture and fluid buildup and had to have a capsulectomy (removal of implant and capsule). I am six-days post op. I'm just feeling a little stiff, but went back to work yesterday.

It's best to see your BS and PS.

I hope you feel better soon.
