Fall Rads 2014

Hello All! It's been a while since I have visited this site and I hope that everyone is doing well. I finished radiation therapy the end of 2014 and still have issues that I believe are associated with this. If anyone has anything similar please let me know if there is anything I can do…..
I have breast lymphedema. It comes and goes as does "cording" in my arm. I do not have any lymphedema in my arm. The right side of my breast …continuing around my side hurts if I touch it - feels like its bruised. I feel like this is from the radiation which has damaged my lymph nodes and it must be a side effect of the lymphedema. I have no thoughts on how to get rid of it!!!
Any ideas, thoughts? Docs no help here. PT has helped with cording, but everyone seems to scratch their head about my chest and side pain.
Hugs to All!

KK, I suppose it could be from the rads but I would be inclined to blame the surgery. I also have slight swelling on the side of my left breast and a tightness that runs from my underarm down my side. My BS said it is normal and to keep stretching that area, and I do find that that does the trick. Maybe it's scar tissue and we have to keep breaking it up. I don't know. I have had no issues with radiation, perhaps that why I am slow to blame it. Whatever the cause, try stretching and see if that helps. I'm sorry that you are having problems

I have pain in my left side from rads. I was told by my physixsl therapist that it is my serratus muscle that is pissed off.
My breast and underarm swelling went away basically after I had myofascial release work done by my physical therapist, plus lymphatic drainage by another therapist who helped open and prime the new pathways of flow. It was painful but afterwards even my nipple started working again - you know how your areola will tighten in response to cold or stimulation? I was amazed it worked so well.
I flew last week for the first time since having issues earlier in the year after a trip. I didn't wrap or compress my arm and realized on the flight back that my arm was feeling a little tingly. I had brought along my GAPFit compression top and pulled it on just after we landed and then slept in it and it seems like that was just then right amount of support. It fits nicely snugly on my arm without compressing the heck out of it

Thanks Pontiac Peggy, your always so optimistic :-) I do stretching all the time and it definitely helps me too. I just feel like it's radiation related because of the scope of pain and swelling. I only had two lymph nodes removed, but the radiation took care of the rest of them!! Ha. By the way, you look great!
Agness, thanks for your input. I really need to go back to PT - I think they can help me. I did get some "Swell Spot" pads that I put in my bra and they help with the breast edema and break up fibrosis. As I write this, I think I will look to see if they have one for my side… Thanks for making me think :-)
Hope y'all have a great evening.

KKay, thank you for the kind words. Yes, I do try to be optimistic (born that way and vital for a husband who never saw a half full glass!). It works for me.
Hope you all can find ways to get rid of the tightness and discomfort from your rads/surgery or whatever the hell is causing it. It is really hard pinpointing it sometimes.
HUGS!
