itchy breast

May 29 I ended up in the ER with a case of hives that spread over a large part of my torso including my left breast and under my right one, left thigh, around my left side, up the left side of my neck, into my ear and had started up my chin when I finally got hefty steroid and benadryl shots.  Since then I have had three much smaller hive outbreaks on either my torso or thighs and I have red spots, similar in appearance to mosquito bites, that appear, itch like crazy and may or may not go away in 36 to 48 hours.  If the spots do not go away in that length of time, the itch usually stops and the spots slowly disappear. (I have an appointment with an allergist in two weeks.)

This the background that may/may not have anything to do with my current concern.

Both my breasts have had hives that itched like crazy and have itched like crazy at times when there were not any hives but red bumps that have disappeared.  The last two days, however, the itching has been intense.  Tonight I noticed a very small white bump on the nipple of my left breast that seemed to be the center point of where the itching has been lately.  I do not feel any lumps in my breast or under my arm.

I immediately looked up all the symptoms of breast cancer.  Itching didn't seem to be mentioned.  Discharge from the nipple was listed but I haven't had any discharge, only the small white bump.  There does not seem to be any swelling, change in shape, scaling, thickening of skin, nipple inverted, or any of the other things listed on the symptoms list.

A.  I am 60 years old.  B.  My mother is a 15 year breast cancer survivor; both of her sisters had breast cancer, one is an 8 year survivor and one was a 10 year survivor before dying of a brain aneurysm.  B. I am overweight.

I have yearly mammograms and clinical exams.  My last one was six weeks ago and no problems found.

Okay, I am probably concerned about nothing, but does any of this sound as if I have a problem with my left breast?  I was not at all concerned until I found the tiny white bump tonight.  Of all the sites I have visited, this one seemed to be the best one to address my concerns with others who may have been in the same situation.

Thanks for your help.

A Tiny white bump on your nipple can be a blocked Montgomery gland, which is like a sebaceous cyst or pimple. You should still get checked out, because you are worried about it and nobody here can diagnose you.

Hi Churchsecretary and welcome to the discussion boards. You have joined a wonderful community of supportive and compassionate individuals. It is of course, as MelissaDallas said best to go to your doctor and a breast specialist about your concerns.

While you wait for more responses if you would like to check out the main site here for excellent, reliable and medically vetted information about breast cancer. Some good links for information can be found Here

    Warm thoughts,

    The mods.

Hi Churchsecretary, did you find out if it was anything. I have the same thing going on. Small white bump dead center of my right nipple, although I have experienced lots of itching before the bump appeared that I just found to be a nuisance, and didn't think anything of it, until the white bump. I am having it biopsied in a few weeks at the same time I have a small mass (FEA) from my left breast removed. Breast cancer....mom and her sister.
