Low Platelets

I am a woman with what should be a low risk (low oncotype) stage 1a, er/pr+, her2- breast cancer. However, now on two occasions across the span of 7 months, my platelet count has been below normal levels. One blood test done at a different hospital in the middle of this 7 month period showed the results were normal, but like 2 pts away from being on the low side. 

My doctor wants me to see a hematologist.

I am writing here because I am worried about the cause of this. Could this mean my cancer has spread to the bone marrow or bones? I feel fine and was supposed to be low risk. Is there anyone who has encountered this problem? Thank you.
