Radiation Effects on Silicone Implants

Hi. I had breast augmentation app. 2 yrs. before being diagnosed. I finished 6 weeks of radiation mid March and have been having increased discomfort, and the breast is firmer than the other. This is relatively new for me and all the literature I read gives mixed reviews on the chance of a capsular contraction. Is there any one out there with something similar? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jaybird26,

    Radiation does not impact the implant per se but rather the tissue surrounding it. I think some tissue hardening is unfortunately to be expected. My situation is a little different as I had BMX with TEs, then silicone implants and then a course of radiation. I am three months out and I see slight changes on the radiated side but nothing major. Hope it stays this way.
