I need the name of a highly recommended breast cancer oncologist in the central PA area or even MD.  I had DCIS and had mastectomy and do not care for my doctor who did the surgery.

Thanks

Where in Pa are you? Do you need a new  breast surgeon or a medical oncologist?

I live in the Harrisburg, PA area...will consider traveling to find a good doctor. I need a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. I have already had mastectomy but I don't care for my breast surgeon who I have been seeing every six months for the last 2 years since the surgery.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Thanks!

I was in the same boat. I wasn't interested in going back to the PS who did my reconstruction. I found a husband (PS) and wife (breast surgeon) team and met with them for yesterday for the first time. My consultation lasted two hours. They were both concerned about a thin area of skin after the mastectomy and reconstruction from 2010.

kathy8454- I'm not sure how many oncologists actually "specialize" in breast cancer. I'm a nurse and I can't say I've ever encountered that however that doesn't mean they don't exist. To be honest, oncologists are a dime a dozen and you should be able to find one in the Harrisburg area that is competent. Oncology is like a few other specialties...they all pretty much work off of the same research. So it really comes down a personality game in my opinion. I'm in West Chester and I like my oncologist but I don't think she's any more special than let's say, my sister's. I know you said you could go to Maryland. Have you thought about getting hooked up at Hopkins?
