Have Rare Cancer, need help

I was just given the results of my biopsy and have a cancer that is not even considered breast cancer but poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma that is in my breast.  I had recently been diagnosed with thyroid issues and high estrogen levels. I am 71 yrs old and feel like I am going thru menopause again.  Seeing a surgeon .on Wednesday and I am very confused.  I can find almost no information about this.

Have you seen the forum on less common types of breast cancer? You may find some others who can relate to you there. Also there is a forum for people over 60 who are going through breast cancer where you may find support and friendships.

I had a primary neuro-endrocine breast cancer. Yes they are very rare (less than one tenth of 1% of breast cancers) and doctors don't know what the best way to treat is because there are too few diagnosed to do a case study with. They end up treating you like they would a regular breast cancer. The good news is that they are usually not very aggressive cancers and are slow to spread. Menopause the second time around is the pits. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions I can help you with.

Well it turns out there was a miscommunication...I actually have a poorly differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma.  Talk about a false alarm!
