Hi everyone,  I am awaiting a date for the DEIP surgery.  I am concerned about the scaring involved with this surgery.  Does anyone have any input on their experiences with having the DEIP surgery and scaring?  Any info is helpful, weather you had the surgery recently or a long time ago.  Thank you. Yvonne

Hi Yvonne -- there is a DEIP 2014 thread that you can check out -- very active -- my take is that despite the scarring, most women are very happy with their results and would make the same decision.  I'm 7 months out -- my scars are certainly visible naked, but most of the time I'm dressed and no one would know any difference!  I don't mean to make light of them, but for me, having scars was not a big factor in my decision. I'm very pale and the scars are still quite red in some areas, but I know that scars from previous surgeries have eventually lightened up, so I'm assuming these will too.

I see you are from Toronto -- where are you having your surgery?  I was at Toronto General.

    Hi Ridley,

Thanks for the response.  Glad to hear from someone in Toronto.  My Doctor is Dr. Hoffer.  He came highly recommended from a co-worker who had reconstruction (with implants).  I'm very nervous about the recovery but also very anxious to have two breasts again!  It's been two years since my mastectomy on my right side.  I'm really tired of the prosthesis.  Thanks again for your response.  I'll check out the DEIP 2014 thread.

Hi Yvonne -- Dr. Hofer is my surgeon too.   He is amazing!
