Make me smile

First, Cancer sucks!  Just had to get that out there.  However, I choose to find things that make me smile.  For example, I have a play list on my IPOD of songs that make me happy.  I play it everyday.  I no longer need my IPOD to replay those songs in my head.

I also try to find humor in day to day things.  Sometimes this involves a little prank.  I played one on my surgeon this past week.  I laughed hysterically just planning it.  My husband rolled his eyes.  Here's what happened:

During my lymph node biopsy and my bilateral mastectomy, my surgeon, Dr. Bening, wore his Texas Longhorn surgery cap.  He is a huge Texas Longhorn fan.  I, on the other hand, am a huge Texas Aggie fan. Before my mastectomy, I even told Dr. Bening that he was wearing the wrong hat.  He mentioned that my statement was pretty ballsy considering the surgery he was about to perform

If you live in Texas, you will know of the enthusiastic school rivalry between the Horns and the Aggies.

Fast forward ten months.  Dr. Bening and I have a "date" for a routine colonoscopy.  True to form, Dr. Bening arrives for surgery with Longhorn surgery cap in place. But this time I come prepared.  When Dr. Bening lifts up the sheet to begin the procedure, he is greeted by "Gig em Aggies"  painted on my butt.  Unfortunately, I wasn't awake so see the reaction.  Hubby told me the first thing Dr. Bening said to him was "That crazy gal.  I lift up the sheet and had "Gig em Aggies" staring me in the face."  He was laughing when he said the entire team loved it.

What do you do to put a smile on your face?
