So, I have this lump on my right breast in the 10:00 position. Had a diag. mammo, and then had an US. Lots of cysts in my breasts(which I knew). Diagnostic center called me a few days ago, said no worries, follow up with PCP & recommend aspiration.

Today, I met with my doctor. I started off by saying, "so glad it's nothing, that's a relief". She says "Yes...but I wouldn't call it nothing". She was upset that the diagnostic center called me. She said the report says "appears benign" which is great. BIRAD-2. I have very cystic breasts, which I know are common. She referred me to general surgeon regarding aspiration, but said she thinks due to the size of the lump in question (2.7 cm...doesn't sound big to me), that the doctor will probably want to do a lump removal. WTH? Has anyone heard of these kind of shenanegins before? Just curious. I made an appointment with surgeon for July 21st for consult.

Oh honey, listen to your doctor, NOT the diagnostic center. Unfortunately mamo and ultrasounds do not always show everything. My lesions (1 ADH and 1 papilloma) did not show up on either, they were found with an MRI.  Until a biopsy we didn't know for sure whether it was serious or not. If the surgeon suggests removing the lump it will give you peace of mind to have it out and a pathology report on the lump.  Best wishes on your consult!

Thank you, lady6244. I figured as much. I was just surprised at how pissed my doctor was. Picking up the slides today for my appointment with the surgeon next Monday.
