In southern Ontario, anyone else with surgery in London?
Just saw that they have a Canadian forum! Hello all! I had my BMX with immediate DIEP in London, Ontario (from Windsor) with Dr. B. Evans as PS and Dr. E. Saettler as my BS. I had high grade DCIS in one breast and, upon the final pathology the stuff they saw in the other breast was LCIS. I had a high risk of reoccurance in the other breast (still not sure how all that is figured out) so doing the BMX was confirmed for me to be the right decision.
I was very happy with both doctors and the speed with which things happened. i had a reduction in March, which found the DCIS in pathology, and had surgery June 10. May was a busy month with appts, but it went very quick. I wondered how it would be with how OHIP is perceived to be, but it certainly moved fast for me. Glad that it did!
I am wondering about the next stage and when it will be. Not sure how quick stage 2 happens in Ontario. I think he said 6 months, but we will see.
Just wondering how others have hound it in Canada. I am self employed and pay for medical things for the kids and I out of pocket, so I am so thankful I did not have to worry about that!

HI,I am close to London and had my treatment at the cancer clinic there. I'm not sure what you mean exactly by how quickly stage 2 happens?

Hi,
I had DIEP flap surgery, which is done in a few stages. The second stage is nipple reconstruction. In the states, it seems many posters have it within a few months following intial surgery. Not sure how it works with Canadian healthcare. The PS mentioned about 6 months, but wasn't firm on that.

Sorry I can't help with that. I had implants done and have chosen not to have nipple reconstruction. I am going to have the 3D nipple tattooing done. I am tired of surgeries and I don't want any additional areas of my body to hurt just so I can have nipples. I hope it goes well for you thought. Good luck!!Brenda

Thanks Brenda! I didn't know they did nipple reconstruction in Ontario. I will have to ask my PS about that. The 3D tattoos sound interesting.. But, I do have to have some revision work down, I suspect, so I will still need at least one more surgery. But, I will know more after my appt on the Aug 1, with my PS. I am tired of surgeries too, and home to be done soon.
