Breast lump-could it be scar tissue?

Hi,

I had a lumpectomy about two years ago now that was benign (I was 27 at the time). My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and because that made me super paranoid, I was doing an exam and felt a lump almost exactly around the scar from my lumpectomy. I was concerned enough to get it checked out and I had an ultrasound and mammogram done on both breasts. They found a pretty large cysts in my right breast (not the one i was concerned about) and didn't detect anything in terms of the other lump I was worried about-but-I'm still worried. I feel it sometimes and I even feel like it feels bigger in some positions, although I could of course be paranoid again. I have a follow up appointment in December to see what the deal is, but I guess I am wondering-is this something that anyone has had or dealt with?

Maybe

I had a lump, lemon-pip sized, that I found about 14 months post-op, along my mastectomy scar line. Although the doctor and the radiologist both felt that it was probably benign, they said the only way to tell for sure was a biopsy. The biopsy proved to be scar tissue. Big relief!

It's good you got it checked out. Scar tissue formation is extremely common. Just have them keep an eye on it.  I have "ropey" like tissue in the area of my lumpectomy, that I tend to worry about, but the doctors all say it is scar tissue (and all mammos and MRIs have been clear for years). so I have to trust them that they know what they are talking about.

Thank you so much for replying! This helps put my mind at ease. I don't want to go running to the Dr. every time I feel something off, but I feel very anxious about things now, particularly since I have had that prior surgery at 28 and then having gone back in to be "risk assessed", having them tell me I don't really have that much of a higher risk, and then doing an exam and being concerned...
