I hope this isn't bad, but I was overwhelmed with almost 20,000 posts about hair starting in 2008.  I scanned for about 30 min and couldn't find the answers I wanted.  If I'm wrong in starting a new topic- mods please move this post to the Hair, hair, hair topic.

I am almost 2 mos out of chemo with my last having taxotere due to a reaction to the adriamycin, my hair is starting to grow back but it looks really dark, like dark brown.  I'm hoping it's just due to the fact my scalp is so light but I REALLY don't want dark hair.  I was a strawberry blonde prior to all this and want that color back!

I put up with he hair loss- even the Brazilian part but me with brown hair.........ICK

Has anyone else had a MAJOR hair color change?  If so did it go back to normal?

I hope I didn't offend any Brunettes  :-)

Hi Pupcake....and congratulations on finishing your treatment.   However frustratingly slow it is, growing hair is a preferable activity to having chemo infusions!!  I am almost 1 year out from final chemo.  When my hair started growing, it was "skunk-like"...very dark with white fuzzy streaks.  I was pretty scared.  My normal hair color is strawberry blonde too...(with a little gray mixed in, HA!)  It is normal for your hair color and texture to be different in the beginning, so try to stay calm.  My hairdresser has been wonderful for the past year and has given me many tiny trims and I am now back to my normal color.  Before BC, I colored my hair to remove the gray and wore a bob.  I have decided to keep my pixie haircut and stop coloring my hair and am very happy.  My recommendation is that you use gentle shampoos, and keep your scalp healthy and get regular trims as your hair grows....even if it feels like you are taking off length.  It's also a good idea to find several short style options (from magazines, etc.)  that both you and your hairdresser like so that you can transition out of caps and wigs sooner with a cute "do".  I love my new pixie look and get lots of compliments on it.  Not going back to the bob any time soon.

    Love, MsP
