Sugar intake and risk of breast cancer - are they linked?

Hi all,

I just wanted to highlight this very recent blog that I came across on sugar intake and risk of breast cancer: http://blogs.biomedcentral.com/bmcseriesblog/2014...

You can find the original article here, but I feel the blog breaks it down and explains this new finding.

An overview:

Breast cancer is believed to be linked to increased breast density. And researchers now believe breast density is linked to increased sugar intake. This may connect sugar consumption to breast cancer.

Sugar consumption has almost doubled in the last 50 years. The boosted consumption of sugar seems lead to other diseases such as diabetes or hypertension, and encourages an increase in obesity, which is also associated with cancer.

The blog doesn't blame individuals for the onset of breast cancer either. It does suggest that people ought to steer away from sugary beverages though.
