I'm so thankful to have found this forum. Before I went for surgery I read the topics on DCIS and was pretty calm about it all.

My pathology report came back showing IDC 6mm, HER2 positive, very low Estrogen positive (my DCIS was 20% Estrogen positive), Grade 3. My surgeon said she was very happy that we caught this so quickly, as I am I. My margins look great. I go see an oncologist in July after we take a vacation which was already planned. But I'm starting to get a little freaked out thinking about possibly chemotherapy and radiation. Possibly a receptor blocker.

I'm 46 with 2 young boys (4 and 7) and now realising how aggressive HER2 positive cancer is. That tumor wasn't there (or maybe too small to see?)in April when I had a biopsy for the DCIS. I know I can't know exactly what my treatment will be until I see the Oncologist  but was hoping someone with a similar diagnosis could tell me what their treatment was.  My surgeon thinks I may need to have a lymph node biopsy when I return as well.

thank you ladies

Fiona

Fiona, I cannot answer your questions but am responding so that your topic gets bumped up to the first page.  I hope someone who can help will come along soon.

Dear Fiona, you have found the right place and the right forum to get feedback.

However, every case is slightly different and you may find your treatment to be different from others here. New techniques have been developed to improve treatment protocols and some members will have had older/different treatments. Only your Doctor, with your file and scans etc can advise the best treatment in your case, in your location.

That said, you'll find some very helpful and knowledgeable people here. Welcome and we wish you the best on your journey.

    Thanks Mods.

I'm meeting with my oncologist (For the first time) in a few weeks when I get back from vacation, and my breast surgeon has already spoken with her.  I'll be having a lymph node biopsy at the end of the month and my treatment will depend on what we see there.

So strange to be back in the waiting game, thinking I was almost done after the lumpectomy.
