Hi Ladies - can you all that use the silverdene crème tell me if you used it during you ongoing treatments, or were you told not to use it until all your radiation was completed ?

I thought I read some of you were using it during treatments and my RO said not to-- just curious - why she would not want me to use it now.

thanks ! hope you all have a restful night.

I used the Silverdene during radiation, but not within 4 hrs. of a treatment. I started using it the last two weeks. It really helped me both rounds.

I was told to be sure I did not put any cream/lotion/etc. on for 4 hrs before each rads.  After was fine.   I did not burn DURING rads but  did burn BAD after.  Silvadene/Sulfadene is a prescription that is a sulfa based antibiotic and is not an option for those who are allergic to sulfa (so was not an option for me).  Thankfully, I never developed any infectioms in my extensive burns (have the scars to prove them) was Domeboro soaks.   We are each unique as are our Drs - I choose to learn all I can but go with what my Drs say unless there is some proven reason to not - not what someone online says to do.
