Scars and scar tissue resolved?
The tight band around my chest is due to the bilateral mastectomy scars adhering to the chest wall, right? I'm stretching and seeing a physical therapist. My question is: has anyone totally resolved this feeling, how and how long did it take? Three months post-surgery. Thanks, Sally

sorry you are experiencing this. I went to a massage therapist that practice Active Release and scraping. I think after 2 sessions, I regained full range of motion and was feeling good. The process is painful while he is doing it, but worth it in the long run. Ask your PT about both. Some PTs do it or will recommend a massage therapist.

After Exchange, I never had that "AHHHHH" feeling that most women get when they get their permanent implants. It always felt like I had an Iron Bra on.
The PT at my hospital was useless. So I found an awesome Myofascial Release Massage Therapist on my own (she was also a Certified Lymphedema Specialist) who did some very deep, and often painful, massage on the areas that had been sutured.
Ironically, the worst scar tissue (fibrosis) was around my drain holes. She had to work on that a lot to release the scar tissue.
Then she worked on all the fascia that had tightened over the muscles involved in my BMX. I always left her office exhausted, but walking taller, because my muscles were so much more relaxed.
I think she got rid of that Iron Bra feeling in about five visits. I absolutely swear by Myofascial Release Massage therapy.

Thank you so much for replying.

How long after surgery is myofascial release effective? Do you have to wait a certain amount of time or if you do it 6 months later does it still work? I have that same tight feeling across the middle of my chest, also have pain at the bottom of the implants where the fold is(the sling?) and also great skin sensitivity on the upper outside chest area where the TE was poking me for two months. That area is still very sore and the skin sensitive and now the implant is in there. I am wondering if anyone has had these feelings and if so, do they get better? Also was wondering if anyone has had their implants removed because of discomfort and just gone flat. If this discomfort is from the implants I would be willing to be flat and live comfortably. I wish someone had answers and could tell me WHY this has to be so painful. I am almost 3 months since my mastectomy and 2.5 weeks from my exchange. Thank you.
