Just diagnosed....so many unanswered questions!
Hello,
I am 31 years old with 2 kids. I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and a couple of lymph nodes. I am still waiting to talk to an oncologist (tomorrow) My surgeon informed me that they found a spot on my spine through the CT and bone scan. They are not %100 sure it is cancerous...any thoughts on this one?!! (I am waiting to get an MRI on it) I am told that I will be doing chemo first, to shrink the lump. I am also debating on whether to stay in my home town(Peterborough Ontario) or, going to Sunny Brook (Toronto) I want the best care possible...so confused and so so so worried (especially now that they have found a spot on my spine!)
Any experience, stories, advice would be greatly appreciated!!
THANK YOU ALL!

Hello Ashwillbeatthis sorry to welcome to a forum like this but you are very welcome. I'm new here and everyone is nice so far! :-) I'm was diagnosis in Dec I'm 32 and I have daughter. I've been through chemo and wore the cold caps to keep some of my hair. I'm starting rads next week but I didn't have surgery yet, that will come last. I also have lymph nodes involved. Hopefully that spot on your spine isn't cancer. We are here for support !

Welcome to the forums.
I think Peterborough has a fairly decent oncology department. When I was doing my ATC chemo, I went on vacation in that area and my own onc was very happy that I'd be near the Peterborough hospital should anything go wrong while I was away from home, as he was confident they could take good care of me. Also, you are going to be spending a lot of time at the hospital while you are in treatment. For me, I was at the hospital at least 2 days every 2 weeks. You are going to feel crappy and be tired. That 2 hour drive between Peterborough and Toronto is going to become miserable really, really fast. That's just my opinion though. You need to do what feels right to you, and we will support you in your decision.
As for the possibility of the spot on your spine, try not to worry until you know for sure that there is something to worry about. You have enough on your plate just now. You don't need to think about the what-ifs until you get more information.
Sending you strength.
hrm. edited to add: It may seem out of left field that I'm talking about Peterborough but my profile says California.... I lived in the Kitchener/Waterloo area when I was first diagnosed and treated.
