Anyone had biopsy of lymph notes before surgery
hello..
My result was IDC <2cm, stage 1, grade 3, positive hormones.
BS recommends having a fine needle biopsy for lymph nodes before surgery. If negative having lumpectomy but if positive then having chemo then surgery.
Anyone had such scenario before???
Thank you

I had a sentinel node biopsy before my MX. My surgeon had time on his schedule and he said this way we would have more information before I finalize my surgery decision. -
I had my lymph nodes biopsied at the same time as they did my breast biopsy as they had seen something in my armpit they didn't like the look of when I had my ultrasound. Because of all the blood vessels in the armpit the just used a very fine needle. The sample was very small but there was enough to confirm cancer.

I also had FNA biopsy of the lymph nodes (both sides!) when they did my core breast biopsy. Like Shazza, they saw something on US they didn't like the look of.
My radiologist said US on nodes is basically a crapshoot. In my case they were clear, and I was happy to know this going in to surgery. I think if they had not been, I would have wanted to know that too...

I too had a fine
needle aspiration biopsy (clear) guided by microbubbles using ultrasound, four weeks later a sentinel node biopsy (clear) and a week after that, left mx w/reconstruction. The reason for my not having the SNB during mx surgery was because the hospital I was having reconstruction at, does not have a surgery that is capable of handling radioactive
substances. -
Thank you. Hope I get the biopsy done soon and start treatment.

I had a biopsy of my lymph node at the same time as the breast biopsy. I had a small palpable lump in my armpit, confirmed as suspicious on an ultrasound. Biopsy confirmed the positive status. The lump in my armpit was what brought me to the doctor in the first place. It ended up being a 1.4 cm tumor in the lymph node (my breast tumor was only 1.2 cm.) Fortunately, after my AND, it turned out it was the only node that was positive out of 15. Guess it did it's job. Because of the positive node, I did end up doing chemo. No Oncotype for me, since I didn't meet any of the criteria to be tested. It was just "you have a tumor in the node, you are doing chemo." I was ok with that.

I have no lump in my armpit .. Ultra sound wasnt clear?? Could be from my motor car injury or biopsy??? Or is lymph node biopsy a regural thing???
