Please celebrate with me!
Today is what I consider to be my new second birthday- it is a year ago today that I had my surgery to rid myself of cancer! I am so very grateful to be here today, to have had the strength and character building experience that cancer made me go through. Because of this disease, I now look on life differently and am grateful for that. Each day is a gift, an opportunity to see the beauty of a sunrise, a chance to do or say something nice to someone and to try and make a positive difference. I want to thank BCO for giving me and thousands of women a place to turn to to find answers, comfort and friendship, this has been a source of inspiration and knowledge that I greatly appreciate. I feel I have made a lot of new friends who truly understand the experience we share. So, a big thank you and a big "yahoooo" for my first year being cancer free! Please have a great day today, I know I will :-)
One of the most cherished things I got on BCO was this quote that I put on a pic I took, I'm sorry I don't know who said this but I read it after being first dx and it has been an inspiring thought with me since, Shari

slv58, congratulations on your one year surgery anniversary. Your message was a pleasure to read. The site wouldn't be possible without all the kind and supportive women here.
Best wishes to you for today and for the future. Enjoy dancing in the rain :-)

Ariom, The1toC and and Bren58 (you look fantastic with short hair!) thank you so much! It is such a nice milestone to hit-I know a lot of women don't like to celebrate or remember their 'cancerversary' but I like to acknowledge coming through a hard journey with much more appreciation. I truly believe that we all have a choice how we deal with adversary and I am choosing gratefulness! I hope to hit many more anniversary's but I'm going to appreciate each and every day.

Congratulations. I know how you feel about life, I feel the same since my diagnosis. I celebrated my eighth anniversary, cancer free on May 17th. I thank God every day for the gift of life and time to be with my family and friends. I won't go so far as to say I am grateful for having cancer, but it did teach me to be very grateful for this life and yes to dance in the rain.
