Rash on Anastrozole

Options

Hi....

I'm new to this forum and relatively new to breast cancer treatment for IDC - stage 1.  One week after radiation finished, I started anastrozole.  Five weeks later I developed a rash around my mouth.  Has anyone else experienced this side effect and if so, what did you do?

With my doctor's approval, I stopped taking anastrozole to see what would happen.  My rash started to clear up within two days.  I'm afraid he will want it restarted when he hears this so, I'm not in a hurry to let him know.

Thanks....

Just checking in to ask if you had changed anything else with your products. Sometimes toothpaste, shampoos, etc which contain Sodium laureth sulfate, or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) can cause a rash around your mouth. Cinnamon gum as well! Just sharing my personal experience.

    Hi Lyn

I got itching ten days after starting Anastrozole but persevered. Ten days later I was overwhelmed with exhaustion and the nurse said I was jaundiced. Once told me to stop taking it immediately and said it was an adverse reaction. Took a month to feel vaguely normal.

That said, I am allergic to penicillin and have sensitive skin and asthma. I am Er Neg but Or positive and Her2 pos.

Interesting to see what your onc thinks.

Thanks for asking....  I haven't changed any personal hygiene products, laundry products or other meds/supplements.  My skin has never been very sensitive.

While I can't be sure of  the cause of the rash, I strongly suspect the anastrozole. I will probably go back on it again next week and back to the oncologist when the rash is in full bloom again.
