I would like to hear from anyone who has had mastectomy and hormonal therapy only. I am 63 and on anastrozole.

I had mastectomy and hormonal therapy only.  But that was also the standard of care  for my Stage and based on my oncotype score.  It's not like I was going against the norm.

Hi, B-B - Welcome to the forum!

When you start a new topic, your signature line (with details of your diagnosis) does not show.

So in answer to your question, I think you will find quite a few women - myself included - who had only a mastectomy and an AI or a SERM. I am 63 and just quit Femara.

However, my dx is quite different from yours.

You might want to add a reply that automatically will include your diagnosis and statistics.

That way you will hear from women who had similar diagnoses and went the way of surgery and hormonal therapy only.

I fit this category but only very recently. My BMX was 7 weeks ago, and I started taking Arimidex 7 days ago. I am 60.

Welcome. You may think that this is odd, but that's exactly what I had and I'm stage IV. I have never had chemo! Quite common for ER+ stage IV women, often without the mastectomy.

Janett2014 I hope your healing from surgery is going well. My surgery was 8 weeks ago (right breast only). Incision healing going well but still a lot of edema. Mixed info on that. Some say up to 12 weeks of edema is normal. Doing exercises to prevent lymphedema as I had 8 nodes out and working on range of motion in arm.

I have history of radiation (large one dose shot) and surgery for benign brain tumor acoustic neuroma which caused many problems.

So I wasn't given radiation and chose mastectomy as lumpectomy usually goes along with radiation.
