My mom was diagnosed with Inflammatory breast cancer today. My family is lost. Where can she receive the BEST treatment/care? What can she/we expect next? How can we support her and help her keep a positive attitude?

Hello arf158, and welcome to Breastcancer.org, although we're sorry that you've had to find this awesome community.

Until members post with their personal experiences, you can learn much more about what to expect, and questions to ask at the section Breast Cancer 101 on the main Breastcancer.org site. As for the best place for treatment and care, that will depend on where your mom lives. You might want to add your city and state to your information so members can comment on their experiences if they're in the same area.

The forum for Caregivers, Family, Friends and Supporters is a great place to connect with others who are supporting their family members.

Best wishes to your mother, and to you.

Hi arf158 I am so sorry you are having to face this as a family. Getting a BC diagnosis is a terribly numbing experience for everyone involved.

In the beginning it is all just waiting and worrying, but once there is a plan in place you will all feel more in control.

You have come to the right place for support and information. Everyone here is aware of how you're being affected. There will be women who will come, who can give advice about IBC because that was their Dx.

There are many of us who have been in your position too, as the Daughter with a Mother facing BC. My Mother was Dx  just 4 months after we lost my Dad, in '94. It was a scary time, but I was able to be her caregiver after her surgery. She recovered and passed away 11 years later of an unrelated illness.

Please come here often, for information or support, and I wish you all the very best.
