    cp418-

wow, this is important. however, the second paragraph doesn't make any sense. I can't tell if they are saying that the synthetic folate which may increase the risk of breast cancer is the same as folate (I thought it was folic acid?) which is given to pregnant women to reduce birth defects. I tried to use the contact feature for the org. putting out the article but it didn't work for me.

My understanding is "synthetic" folate (also referred to as folic acid) may increase the risk of breast cancer.  These synthetic forms are what is added to wheat flour and taken as oral supplements.  Natural folate is beneficial to breast cancer patients as found in the foods green foods and beans they listed.  The synthetic forms are the problem -- you cannot improve on what is naturally occurring in nature - REAL foods.  Supplements are artificial when synthetic.

    OMG - Ihatesnowihatenow!!!

I was just going to post that having googled folate and folic acid. The original article is misleading in the use of the term synthetic folate without also clearly  indicating that it is better known as folic acid.
