nipple reconstruction : debating...

had left side reconstruction & right side reduction - right side nipple was reduced & relocated - looks ok 

had radiation post surgery - everything still looks good - will go in July for consult about the nipple recon - also need a little nip-tuck on the right side under my arm there's a ridiculous bulge

just not sure it's worth more surgery...i read they take the skin needed from 2 different places? is that true?

    I think it depends on the method your PS uses.  My PS does the origami-fold nipple,  so no skin was taken from other places.  I like them now but they were awfully unattractive at first!  I had to wear these terrible nipple protectors that were hard to hide.  I don't have tattoos and I requested low profile,  so I can go braless if I want.     thanks, LAstar! what does he use for that? I too like to go bra-less - less obvious now with my much smaller tattas - but only one headlite looks funny :)

    Notbuyingit - I was able to keep one nipple during my BMX.  I too was concerned about nipple recon - worried about matching existing one, worried about doing nipple recon on rads side, etc.  I had mine reconstructed about a month ago.  PS took skin from my hip (scar is in my pantie line; with time it will hardly be noticeable).  Nipples do not match exactly yet, but new one still needs to shrink a bit, and then they will be close.  I am saving $ to have Vinnie Myers do my tattoo.  Would I do it again?  Absolutely!  The first time I looked in the mirror after nip recon, I burst into tears - happy tears - it felt so good to see a nipple and a colorless areola.  The mental healing this gave me was HUGE! I have an appointment with my PS today to check my progress and healing.  Good luck with your decision!

    My PS cuts the skin where the nipple goes and stitches it into a nipple. I really don't know how he does it!

    thanks ladies!! I will see what my PS says his approach would be - there are reasons why i choose reconstruction - i'm sure i will be happier if i see it through!!

    Notbuyingit, my PS does skin graft nipples - the skin comes from the very top of the thigh right where your panties sit. I'm having mine done in three weeks, so will be able to tell you all about it if that's the kind your PS does.
