Frustrating for ILC since the last thing I read, this only works for a subset of ILC....like throwing a piano to kill an ant.

Misleading headline. ASCO hasn't changed the recommendation for post menopausal women who start out with an AI, still only five years. Still only five years of an AI after starting with tamoxifen too. There is no recommendation yet to take AIs for more than five years.  I'd copy the relevant sentence from the second link but  sending from iPad.

    Kathy,

I thought that the original plan was 2 years tamoxifen and 3 years arimidex, which seemed to be better than all tamoxifen and/or all armidex. If that is the case, then the change seems to be an additional 2 years armidex for post meno or 8 more years for premeno.

The link also did not indicate what women who recently finished meds with the old recommendations, should do...if you have not been on anything for 2 or 3 or 4 years, are they suggesting to go back and start up?  Perhaps I missed something; my onco (the last time I emailed her this info when it first came out) said that doctors should be recommending this to specific patients (more aggressive tumors) and this should not be an "everyone" decision.  Who knows who is right.
