Today after the long memorial weekend I called my doctors office to check on my results. I was told she was out till tomorrow,  I told the nurse about the biopsy on Thursday and how I'm eager to know. Twenty minutes layer she called and said my doctor confirmed right breast cancer.  She should not tell me the severity of it until later tomorrow when she calls me with an appointment with the surgen.  The old worry is gone and a new one has come. Is it invasive?  Is it precancerous?  I'm worried but relieved. I've been asking for 5 years for a mammogram and was always denied due to my age. Finally I found a doctor who lietened to my concerns and now I will get the help I need

There is a lot of waiting and anxiety during those first few weeks as your doctors try to get all of the pieces to the puzzle - how big, how extensive, what type, etc. And a lot of decisions to make about surgery and treatment - a lot just comes at you all at once! Ask for something for anxiety if you need it and just try to take one day at a time. It's quite a bump in the road, there is no denying that. But, you will find a lot of great information, support, and reasons to be hopeful here! I was 37 when diagnosed about a year ago - please PM if you want to talk. And please keep us posted as you get more information. Hugs!

Sorry to hear your news. :(

Even once you get the biopsy results, you don't get the whole picture until after surgery (mastectomy/lumpectomy) and possibly various scans.

The biopsy just gives a snapshot of the piece they got a sample of. Once they establish the exact type and stage you will know what your treatment plan is, and somehow most people are less anxious on the whole, once you feel that action is being taken.

Take care and hold on tight .. it can be a white-knuckle ride for sure! xx

I am 31 and feel your pain. I begged to have a mammo done for several years due to history with my mom of breast cancer. I had my mammo and then they ordered an ultrasound. Now I got a bi rads category 5 and they have ordered a biopsy ASAP. Hoping the best for you.

worried2 and survivor - I feel you both!

39 at dx in April. Been a really crazy few months, and I am still waiting...(BC has pushed me to new levels of patience, whether I like it or not ;-)

I'm still riding the roller coaster, but the good news is it does get better - people kept saying that to me on April and I thought it was impossible, but it does. Everyone is different though, so be kind to yourselves.

Hoping for good outcomes for you both.

    Rain
