Hello  everyone,

I am posting on my behalf of my mom. She has been put on weekly Navelbine ( for 12 weeks) of which she has managed 5 so far.

The first time she had it,mom had painful mouthsores and the 2nd injection had to be delayed.

The 2nd went okay.

From 3rd onwards she is experiencing uneasiness and pain in her stomach for which she has to take a painkiller everyday. Is this normal?

When we went to the doc, he said it could be constipation or flatulence, but her motions are regular.

I am worried and miserable to see her so down. Can you please share or help suggest about it?

Also, today ( 3 days post her 5th injection),she again complained of the bonepain which she experienced around her foot. The kinds which she is able to relate to the disease. So does that mean , Navelbine is not working on her?? Please help!

I have not done Navelbine so no experience at all with it.  It is not unusual with  chemos to have bone/joint pain.  Claritin (not the long acting form) is supposed to help.  Is she being as active as she had been, laying down more?  When does the "uneasiness and pain" in stomach happen?  "Uneasiness and pain" can mean so many different things to different ones of us.  My suggestion os to listen/observe what is going on and journal/write down the times, what's going on, what she's been doing/not doing before issues are most present and/or anything else that might be related.  Take that journal with you to all Dr appts then you  an give the Dr a better idea than just "uneasiness and pain in stomach".  I learned many years ago that there are times that sometimes with medical issues - document, Document, DOCUMENT!

    SeemsN

I just took my first dose of the same drug this pass Friday and my mouth is on fire, and I'm having pain in my back and arms. I was afraid it was going to give me mouth sores it burns even when I drink water, I'm not sure if I want to continue this and hearing what your mom is going through is going to get worst. I see my Doc on Friday to see what he thinks. Goodluck to your mom and I will post again if I get more info, also my tumor didn't shrink at all, so I'm not sure it's working.

You are right kicks. Will document. In her case the pain started initially while passing stool and then became a constant dull ache which aggravated at no noted timing( like nothing related to post /pre eating).Unless on painkiller she cant move about the house, and she still complains pain around ribcage( post last bone scan, the mets showed activity there).

    Dear Akevia,

I am sorry to hear about that.Constant mouth gargles, every  might half an hr might help.My mom was prescribed Tantum gargles which finally worked on her..If you can ,try having liquid energy drinks, smoothies, yoghurt and avoid anything near to being 'spicy' or any such ingredient.Might help!

All the best and yes,pls keep me posted!

    Cheers
