Hi

Recently had a ct scan for my lungs for a persistent cold--lungs were clear, but of course, they found a nodule on my thyroid. Had an ultrasound the other day- dr. just called. Three nodules-two really small, one almost 2 cm, which means they have to biopsy the 2 cm one.

I know that the chances are good that it is not cancer, but there is always a chance-- going to try to get the biopsy scheduled asap--- does anyone have any experience with thyroid cancer?

thanks

Sorry you have to deal with this!  As I have been told, 90-95% of thyroid nodules are benign.  I recently had a thyroid nodule that was 'highly suspicious' by US biopsied by FNA which came back a B9 follicular adenoma.  Because of the discordance of the biopsy results with imaging, I'm now in the '6 month club' for this thyroid nodule, in addition to being in the '6 month club' because of my ALH/LCIS.    You might want to check out www.inspire.com to seek support for thyroid issues.  Hope it turns out to be benign!

Thanks Pegaus-- that is so reassuring.  I don't think I was highly suspicious-- but I don't know-- doesn't really matter--just need to have the FNA which I am going to try to schedule tomorrow... would like to do it this week if at all possible, but not sure that can happen.  I am, as we often do, hoping for the best, planning for the worst.  Hoping to be in the 95%, lining up head/neck people at Dana Farber where I was treated for my bc.....

will come back with more info. thanks for the link
